1/5- 2007 News | Financial support from the Ministry of Science to Mobile Identity project
- pilot project Mobile Fitness with youngsters in Danish municipalities
Mobile Fitness has earlier this year received financial support from the M-learning pool of Ministry of Science. 150 youngsters from many of the country’s municipalities will be testing Mobile Fitness as a supplement to meetings with dieticians. The youngsters are offered a six months period with focus on both physical exercise and diet. They are each given a mobile phone with a software program which they can use to keep hold of how much energy they receive through their diet, and how much energy they use when exercising. Furthermore they receive a personal profile at a closed site, to which only they themselves and their dietician have access to. Here they can follow their development, debate with other overweight youngsters, test their knowledge about healthy diet and lifestyle, etc. The mobile phone is programmed individually so that the youngsters e.g. by receiving messages via their mobile phone are motivated to obtain their individual goal. The idea is to integrate the effort of changing lifestyle to a part of the youngster’s everyday life and where the unhealthy lifestyle arises and where the new healthy habits are to be created and sustained. The youngsters receive guidance and dialogue from a dietician through the whole process. (From www.mobilefitness.dk)

10/12/03 Mobile Identity launches The Ultimate Fan
Mobile Identity, in conjunction with B.T. and Cellpoint, has now launched B.T.'s SportsIdioten - signalling a new wave of interactive mobile entertainment.

B.T. is one of Denmarks largest daily tabloid newspapers with a specialty in sports news.

SportsIdioten is an SMS- and web-based trivia game that will initially run over a 6 week tournament. B.T.'s readers can enter for a week or for the whole 6 week tournament with the chance to win great prizes. Entrants score points by answering multiple choice questions in the category of their choice correctly, and in the fastest time.

A website enables entrants to check their score and position on the leaderboard and create a profile including their picture. The Leaderboard is published each Monday in B.T. including pictures of the top entrants. Advanced features include "Challenge a Friend" and the ability to create a "League of Friends".

Key technical challenges needed to be solved in creating and launching The Ultimate Fan including application development to measure the time between when a customer receives the question and when they reply with their answer.

B.T. SportsIdioten is based upon Mobile Identity and Cellpoint's new product "The Ultimate Fan" - a flexible solution enabling newspapers, magazines, brands and internet communities to generate revenue by providing entertaining services to their customers. Mobile Identity expects to launch new games based upon The Ultimate Fan in early 2004.

2/10/03 Creating Wireless Value
"It's time to stop waiting for a killer app and make the most of what we have..."

Mobile Identity's Managing Partner Andrew Martyn has had a new article published in Wireless Business and Technology, "Creating Wireless Value"

Extract:

"A few weeks back, SYS-CON's group publisher, Jeremy Geelan, and I chatted about how mobile applications had the potential to influence our lives, but also about how many ideas never go anywhere. While others may spend their time chasing killer apps, we decided to create a forum to review applications that are driving the frontiers of wireless Internet by creating real value. We came up with the concept of Value Applications.

Value Applications, as we have defined them, are uses of wireless Internet that create value for end users (stimulating a market demand), are timely in terms of market and technical readiness, create value for operators (generally increasing ARPU), and sometimes have the potential to define a new category of services. This column will regularly review commercially available and highly innovative applications from around the world that meet our criteria."

“Rather than technology preceding demand (as is often the case), in mobile business, the technology is trying hard to catch up with demand.
