Hydro Texaco A/S is
one of Denmark's largest oil companies with more
than 3000 employees. Hydro Texaco imports gasoline
and oil products that are primarily sold to retail
and business customers in Norway and Denmark.
In addition Hydro Texaco A/S also sells products
in Greenland, Iceland and the Baltic States (Estonia,
Latvia and Lithuania).

There are almost 10.000
different lubricants available in Europe and it
is time consuming to determine which of the different
lubricants should be used in which situation.
Hydro Texaco wanted to make it easier for the
B2B users of its products (mechanics, service
station attendants) to help choose the right Hydro
Texaco lubricant wherever they are and whenever
they need it.
An added objective is to gradually reduce the
need to continuously update printed product conversion
tables and reduce demand on their call centre
staff.
Solution
Mobile Identity recommended
that an SMS based solution would enable anyone
in range of a mobile network with a mobile phone
to instantly search for the right Hydro Texaco
product, based upon the recommended competitive
product for the vehicle. The customer sends the
product name (or part of the name) by SMS to the
server and the corresponding Hydro Texaco product
is immediately received by SMS.
